With more guests than usual, this unforgettable encore eTown show will be spread over two weeks. This week, noted New Orleans resident (originally born in Sweden) and performer extraordinaire Anders Osborne returns to the eTown stage after several years absence, to share his soulful vocals, rich songwriting, and tasteful guitar work; plus he and Nick have an “up close and personal” conversation about what’s been going on in Anders’ world.

Nick also sits down with our eChievement Award Winner, the founder of an organization providing books, education, and learning programs as a lifeline of hope for incarcerated adults.

And we’ll hear from the talented North Carolina-based bluegrass quartet Chatham County Line.

In this week’s re-airing, Nick and Helen and the eTown crew head to Athens, Georgia for a special installment of our “eTown On the Road” series. This week’s eTown repeat airing features two dynamic musical talents: the famously raw and wonderful singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle (son of Steve Earle) as well as Emily Gimble, a talented pianist, vocalist, and songwriter who shares stories about growing up as a member of one of the most famous musical families in America (she’s third generation in a long line of iconic players). And Nick interviews a co-founder of “500 Women Scientists,” a grassroots organization that promotes the importance of science in general while raising the profile of female scientists around the world.

This week, it’s part two of a special “eTown on the Road,” as we return to the iconic Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, continuing with our musical guests from last week: The Wood Brothers, Fruition, and Steep Canyon Rangers. Nick will also share some fascinating historic facts about holding concerts at Red Rocks, a tradition which started all the way back in the early 1900s. Great music and some interesting conversation along the way, coming to you from one of the most exquisite natural music venues in the world. In addition, talented singer-songwriter Joe Sampson, whose intimate, emotive songs have led to collaborations with Nathaniel Rateliff and others, comes for his first visit to eTown, as well.

Plus, we’ll share an inspiring conversation with a woman in Brownsville, Texas who’s lending aid to migrant families in need, as they wait to seek asylum in America.

Aoife O’Donovan / Che Apalache / Interview: Bea Johnson (Zero Waste Home)

For part two of a two part show, we’re joined by eTown veteran Aoife O’Donovan of the Grammy Award-winning band “I’m With Her.” Aoife returns to eTown for a very special performance with collaborator Jeremy Kittel, who co-produced and arranged Aoife’s first new studio recording in four years. Aoife and Jeremy are also joined by a string quartet. Also with us for their visit is Latin and American roots band Che Apalache, featuring three powerhouse Latin American musicians – two from Argentina, Franco Martino (guitar), Martin Bobrik (mandolin), and Pau Barjau (banjo) from Mexico, as well as worldly frontman Joe Troop. Nick also sits down for a conversation with Bea Johnson, author of Zero Waste Home. Bea initiated the zero-waste movement and shares her tips for living a more sustainable lifestyle.
